Researchers from our Institute participated as lecturers in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) entitled ‘Space in the 21st Century’, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 14 to 18 September 2026.
The one-week international programme was organised by New University (Nova univerza), Slovenia, in co-operation with Trnava University, Lazarski University and the Ludovika University of Public Service. The programme brought together students and lecturers from several European countries to examine contemporary legal, policy, security and sustainability challenges related to outer space. The academic programme combined academic lectures and interactive workshops. In addition to the academic sessions, the programme included visits to governmental institutions, as well as cultural activities in Ljubljana, allowing participants to explore both the professional environment surrounding the space sector and the cultural heritage of Slovenia.
Our Institute was represented by Dr Balázs Bartóki-Gönczy, András Edl and Barbara Horváth, who contributed to the academic programme as lecturers. Their contributions addressed different aspects of the rapidly evolving space domain, including orbital governance, space security and defence, and the legal and regulatory challenges associated with the sustainable use of outer space, the protection of dark and quiet skies and current developments in space governance. The participation of the Institute’s researchers also provided an opportunity to present the Institute's research activities and expertise to an international audience and to engage with students and academics from partner institutions on current issues of space law and policy.
The Ludovika University of Public Service was further represented by five students, who participated in the programme alongside international students. Their participation provided an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of contemporary European approaches to space law and policy.
