IAC 2024

Krisztina Tilinger, the Institute’s researcher has been presenting at the 75th session of the famous International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2024) on 16th October 2024. This year the IAC was themed around “Responsible Space for Sustainability” and attracted more than 11.000 visitors from around the world. Krisztina’s paper, titled „Implementation of the Outer Space Treaty through blockchain-based systems” was accepted, among several thousand applications, into the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) Colloquium, a permanently recurring section of the IACs, which has been focusing this year on how the latest technological developments are impacting the development of the law of outer space.

Krisztina’s research paper elaborates how harnessing the blockchain technology can accelerate the achievement of long-term sustainability of space activities, and details use cases and introduces new ideas of how the blockchain based systems might be applied in the space industry in order to comply with the Outer Space Treaty.

For receiving access to the interactive poster of her presentation you might contact her at tilinger.krisztina@uni-nke.hu. Interested scholars are also encouraged to contact the author for further discussions or collaboration. The paper is available online for the public audience for a minor fee at the IAF Digital Library and for attendees of the IAC 2024 free of charge at the Proceedings of IAC 2024.

IISL is the global association for space law with individual and institutional members from almost 50 countries. The IISL’s key mission is the promotion of further development of space law and expansion of the rule of law in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
