Horizon Europe – Space program draft

The work plan, available at the link below, is not yet final, but it can serve as a compass for professionals considering applying.

The EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) is preparing the launch of its 2nd Horizon Europe call, in October 2022, which mobilises an EU investment of EUR 48.1 million for the development of innovative downstream space applications that make best use of the EU Space Programme services for EU citizens, industry, and society.

EUSPA intends to closely support the EU Member States in raising awareness among the relevant national stakeholders, giving adequate visibility to the available opportunities and ensuring broad participation for the benefit of the EU industry growth and competitiveness.

The call of EUSPA will focus, among others, on

- the EGNSS uptake in smart mobility;

- Copernicus-based downstream applications for the European data economy and in conjunction with Artificial Intelligence;

- the modernisation of the EU public sector;

- to develop secure SatCom use cases building on the GOVSATCOM component;

- and for the first time the development of secure SatCom use cases building on the GOVSATCOM component. It is a unique opportunity for the European industry (including SMEs), academia, but also public actors (e.g. regional and/or local authorities, infrastructure providers, civil protection organizations, etc.) to develop new EU space- based innovative applications, delivering commercial and social benefits.
